Many drivers in Florida only purchase the Florida mandidated
minimum in coverage or have no coverage at all. Unfortunately, Florida
does not require a driver or owner to purchase coverage to pay for
damages or injuries caused by their carelessness. In most instances,
Forida only requires pip coverage and property damage liability
coverage.
If you are the victim of an automobile accident that results in
an injury to yourself, uninsured motorist coverage pays for damages and
injuries you suffer. These injuries and damages include your physical
pain, suffering, disability, disfigurement, impairment to function and
loss of ability to lead a normal life. Unfortunately, the coverage
required by the State of Florida does not pay any of these losses.
When purchasing automobile coverage, an insurance compay in
Florida is required to sell you uninsured motorist coverage in the same
coverage limits as your bodily injury liability coverage. Uninsured
motorist coverage is important protection that should never be waived
and you should never select lower limits than the amount that the
insurer is required to offer.
