Roofer causes brain & spinal cord injury

Produced: 08/14/2008

In March 2005 our client hired a local roofer to repair his roof damage from a hurricane. While replacing the roof shinigles, the roofer damaged a water line in the attic causing damage to the drywall ceiling.  To stop the leak the water line from causing further damage the water main to the house was turned off, leaving the client's family without running water. Despite promises to have a plumber repair the line, the roofer never got a plumber to fix the line. When the roofing work was done, an employee of the roofer tried unsucessfully to repair the line. He then advised our client that it would be ok to inspect what he had done. While inspecting the damage our client fell to a concrete garage floor when the water damaged dry wall ceiling collapsed. He sustained a brain injury and an incomplete spinal cord injury. The case was settled for a confidential amount just before we were to start his trial.
